What Is Dry Eye?

What you should know

Dry eye disease occurs when your eyes do not produce enough tears or when tears evaporate too quickly. A common cause is Meibomian Gland Dysfunction (MGD). Healthy meibomian glands produce the oil layer that keeps tears from evaporating too quickly. When they become blocked or damaged, symptoms such as dryness, burning, redness, and blurred vision may occur.
